The Life and Travels of Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale and the Crimea are inextricably linked but the Crimea wasn’t the only place that made her the character she was. Her journey to Egypt in 1849-50, started as an escape but led to the development of her own unusual philosophy of life and religion. These lectures will seek to investigate how Ancient Egyptian art and Modern Egyptian people challenged and shaped Florence Nightingale.
